history

The yellow buses of Nuup Bussii A / S in the Greenlandic capital Nuuk

Before the Nuuk City Council provided local public transport, private providers offered transportation services within the city. The unreliability of these providers prompted the city administration at the time to regulate local transport. For this reason, Nuup Bussii A / S was founded on September 26, 1980. The company started with five buses and seven employees. These numbers soon increased due to the constant expansion of Nuuk. In 1999 the company already had 19 employees. At the beginning of the company, the bus fleet consisted of Mercedes buses, later Nuup Bussi A / S bought vehicles from the Danish manufacturer Dansk Automobil Byggeri (DAB). In 2000, the first Volvo vehicles were purchased, which today make up a large part of the vehicle fleet.

Since the administrative reform in 2009 , the company has been providing transport services in the newly established large municipality of Sermersooq , connecting the city center of Nuuk with the outlying districts of Quassussuup Tungaa , Nuussuaq and Qinngorput . In 2011 two million passengers were carried.

Lines

The line network currently consists of 7 lines, 3 of which are express lines that only run during rush hour. The buses connect important destinations, for example the city center, the airport and the university, but also the suburbs Nuussuaq , Quassussuup Tungaa and Qinngorput with the center of Nuuk. All routes run on a circular course , which means that there are no real start and end stops and can therefore be boarded at any time. Below are the lines that are currently (as of November 2017) en route:
