Nyaunggan

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nyaunggan is a village in Myanmar . A small Bronze Age cemetery was excavated here in 1998 and 1999 . Since the prehistory of Myanmar has so far been researched very little, this burial ground is of particular importance.

The place is located on Chindwin , near the city of Budalin in what is now the Sagaing region . 44 skeletons were found, which were richly decorated with accessories. The dead lay on their backs with their heads facing north. There were spearheads made of bronze, arrowheads and axes. Other objects are stone bracelets that were still found on the joints. Pottery in the burials contained food offerings. There were also beads made of different materials.

Since comparative material is scarce, it is difficult to classify the finds culturally and chronologically. With great caution, a date around 1000 BC. Suggested.
