ODIT France

The agency ODIT France or Observation, Développement et Ingénierie Touristiques France (German: Touristic observation, development and project planning France) is a public interest group that emerged from three predecessor organizations (AFIT, ONT, SEATM) and was founded by inter-ministerial decree of January 24, 2005 (French .: groupement d'intérêt public , GIP for short ) of the French tourism sector . The agency's task is, in accordance with the policy of the French State Secretariat for Tourism , to increase the competitiveness of this branch of the economy and to ensure its adaptation to the requirements of international tourism.

ODIT France becomes part of Atout France

In May 2009, the French Secretary of State for Tourism announced that the organizations Maison de la France , the French Tourist Office (previously responsible for France's tourism promotion at home and abroad) and ODIT France would merge into the new organization Atout France .

Previous division of tasks

Alongside the Maison de la France , the Agence nationale pour les chèques-vacances and the Conseil national des villes et villages fleuris, ODIT France is one of the four organizations affiliated to the French State Secretariat for Tourism. These support the Direction du Tourisme of the French State Secretariat, among other things, in the planning and implementation of their advertising campaigns.

Membership is possible for everyone. The latter are divided into active members ( membres actifs ), associate members ( membres associés ) and subscribers ( abonnés ).

Specific tasks of the agency ODIT France are, for example, the comprehensive research of all components of the supply and demand of tourist products, the observation of new trends, the advice on project planning (especially of winter sports structures), the analysis, evaluation or appraisal of innovative projects as well as the taking of accompanying ones Measures for their realization. Last but not least, ODIT France is also responsible for promoting French savoir-faire ( know-how ) with the aim of exporting it.

ODIT France organizes an average of 12 seminars or specialist meetings every year and publishes around 15 publications a year summarizing the results of surveys and studies carried out or developed with its members.
