OFC Charleville

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Olympique Football Club Charleville-Mézières , usually briefly OFC Charleville , was a French football club from Charleville-Mézières in the Ardennes department in northern France .

history

The club was founded in 1904 as the Association Sportive des anciens élèves de Belair la Villette , renamed itself in 1910 to Club Ardennais and in 1927 to Football Club de Charleville . In 1932 he merged with Olympique de Charleville and called himself Football Club Olympique Charleville . As a result of the unification of the cities of Charleville and Mézières (1966) and after an economically justified dissolution, it was re-established in 1997 under its current name.

The club color was blue. The first team plays in the Stade du Petit-Bois , which can seat 3,000 spectators. In the 2013/14 season she competed in the sixth class Division d'Honneur . On April 3, 2018, the association merged with the Association Média Terre Charleville-Mézières and Association Houillère Renouveau to form Olympique Charleville Neufmanil Aiglemont (OCNA).

League affiliation

From 1935 to 1939 and again from 1994 to 1997 the OFC had professional status, also played in Division 2 , but never in the top division of France . With reaching the final of the national cup in 1936, the club achieved the greatest success to date; in this he had to bow to RC Paris with 0: 1 after previous victories against the first division clubs AS Cannes (1: 0), Excelsior AC Roubaix (2: 0) and Red Star (2: 1) .
