OGS Explora Mounds

The OGS Explora Mounds are 40 km long and 30 km wide at depths between 400 and 900 m below sea level in the Antarctic Ross Sea . It is an unusually concentrated collection of deep-sea mountains between 700 and 2500 m in diameter and heights between 50 and 100 m.

Scientists from an OGS Explora research voyage carried out between 2005 and 2006  by OGS Trieste discovered it and named it after the research vessel.
