Specialized nurse in the surgical service
Specialized nurses in the surgical service are health and nursing staff with two years of advanced training who assist the surgeon during the operation . They are also responsible for the preparation and follow-up of the operating rooms, the instruments and the necessary equipment. There are also surgical assistants (OTA) who, after three years of training in the operating room and in other functional units, e.g. B. endoscopy, ambulances, emergency rooms can be used.
After the three-year training as a health care professional, after 24 months of professional experience, of which at least six months in the position, you can complete a two-year professional training course, which in most federal states ends with an exam that entitles you to use the professional title of specialist nurse . This specialist training is not a legal requirement for working in the surgical service, but is required by most employers. Among other things, specialist nurses have a higher salary level according to TVöD .
