OPERA! is an international musical theater magazine founded in Berlin in 2015 , which is published monthly.

Publisher and authors

OPERA! appears monthly (with the exception of a double issue for July / August) by Ulrich Ruhnke. The print edition is available in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and for subscribers worldwide too. There is also an internationally available digital edition. To the authors of OPER! include music critics from German-speaking countries, and articles by English-speaking authors in German translation are also occasionally published.

Content orientation

OPERA! sees itself as a modern magazine about music theater, made by a young generation of specialized music journalists. Art and artists are just as important as the social aspect of opera. The magazine publishes reviews of opera productions worth discussing with a focus on German-speaking countries and neighboring European countries, occasionally also from the USA. In addition, OPER! Artist interviews, thematic contributions, essays, preliminary reports on special productions, backstage stories as well as CD and DVD reviews and a service part.

In addition, OPER! Tips for singers and premieres, repertoire with casts from international opera houses and festivals, in which roles and house debuts of singers are noted, as well as photo reports of premiere celebrations and singing anniversaries.
