The Buenos Aires Obelisk is a 67-meter-high monument in the city of Buenos Aires, built in 1936 .

The obelisk was erected in May 1936 to mark the 400th anniversary of the city's foundation. It is located in the Plaza de la República . It was planned by Alberto Prebisch and built in less than four weeks. It is on the site of the Church of San Nicolás , built in 1773 , which was demolished and rebuilt elsewhere when construction began on 9 de Julio Avenue in 1936 . The obelisk is accessible, 206 steps lead to the top, where you have a view through four windows.
