The Upper Castle with the address Im Städtle 28 in Vellberg is a historical secular building .

The building was built in 1531 together with the attached "Old Barracks". From 1581 to 1583, the Upper Palace was extended and stocked to the west. The upper two floors show ceiling and wall paintings. The former castle chapel still has a stucco ceiling. The Königliche Kameralamt Württemberg sold the building in 1824 and the Upper Castle was used as a bakery and residential building. In 2004 the building was renovated and connected to the old office building with a walkway made of steel and glass . Today it serves as the seat of the city administration.
