The village of Oberkirch in the canton of Solothurn is located on a range of hills on which the municipal boundary between Nunningen and Zullwil also runs.

The church and rectory of the two parishes were built here. The church is on the parish of Zullwil, but the rectory is on the parish of Nunningen. A few farmhouses with courtyard buildings are still formed around these two structures.

Parish Church of St. Urs and Viktor

According to a legend, the country's first wooden church is said to have been located here. A church was first mentioned in documents in 1375 as a branch church of Laufen. Also preserved in a document is a dispute from 1483 over a work in the church with a painter from Laufen. Solothurn acquires 1530 the church set by the chapter in Basel and is 1541, the transfer postpone the parish church (literally to hire ). A coat of arms from 1516 has been preserved from the old church, which was extended in 1600. This comes from Hans Imer von Gilgenberg . Around 1643 the pastor must have asked for the parish church to be rebuilt. This was built based on a model by Brother Prob and was completed in 1668. It was consecrated in 1685 to Saints Peter, Maria, Joseph, Wendelin, Urs and Victor. In 1787 the gallery was extended and two side altars were erected in the church. An expansion of the church was planned around 1816/1817, but this was not done because it was much too small. It was only 25 shoes wide and had three windows on each side. The interior was covered with a cross vault. The massive tower stood in the north. The old church was demolished.

The church was replaced by a new building that was completed in 1866. This neo-Gothic building was built by Wilhelm Keller. The coat of arms from 1516 was walled into the northern vestibule. The red sandstone baptismal font from the previous church was set up in the parish garden. In the church tower there are four bells that were cast by Rüetschi in Aarau in 1880/81.

The church belongs to the Catholic parish of the Oberkirch rectory.
