Upper part

The upper part is the highest voice in a musical movement . She can switch from one instrument to another or to the vocal part during the piece . The pitch of the upper part can also be higher than the main part, which usually embodies the melody . In a mixed choir consisting of soprano , alto , tenor and bass , z. B. move the melody from the soprano to the tenor. The tenor thus changes its function from the harmony part to the main part , soprano and alto, whose notes are higher than those of the tenor, become upper parts.
