Obrint Pas ( Catalan for clearing the way or a little freer We're clearing the way ) was a six-member musical group from Valencia . The music style is a mixture of Ska and Punk with strong influences from Catalan folklore . The texts are in Catalan and mostly have a political background.
Band history
Obrint Pas was founded in 1993 in Valencia, whereupon they released their first demo in 1994 . In the following years Obrint Pas played at various festivals, while in 1997 her debut album La revolta de l'ànima was released. In 2000 Obrint Pas followed , which was distributed for the first time by the record label Propaganda pel Fet . The next albums Terra (2003) and La Flama (2004) helped Obrint Pas to international fame, so that they u. a. occurred in Germany , the Netherlands and Switzerland . The live album En Moviment , released in 2005, was dedicated to Ovidi Montllor , who had died ten years earlier, and was the only Catalan-language album to rank among the top 20 best-selling albums in Spain. In addition to a live CD, the album also includes a DVD and more. a. with a recording of a concert on April 30, 2005 in Valencia with over 10,000 spectators. At the beginning of 2006 her "Internacionalista Tour" started with appearances in Germany, Switzerland, England, Sardinia, the Basque Country, France, Austria, Hungary, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Argentina and Chile. At the end of May 2014, the group, which had already announced its breakup in March 2013, gave their last three concerts at the Teatre Principal in Valencia.
Political self-image
The political self-image underlying the lyrics is based on the widespread demand in the Catalan left movement for independence and socialism for the Catalan countries ( Països Catalans ).
