Ochavo (coin)

Ochavo is a name for an old Spanish copper coin.

It weighed one eighth, hence the name ochavo, one ounce and was worth two maravedís and was originally minted at the beginning of the 17th century in the time of King Philip V and then retained as currency until the middle of the 19th century. The coin has a silver content of 75 granos corresponding to 359 milligrams.
