The Bad Schoenborn South Station is the larger of the two train stations in Baden-Württemberg community of Bad Schönborn in the district of Karlsruhe . It connects the Bad Langenbrücken district of Bad Schönborn to national rail traffic . The station belongs to station category 4 of the Deutsche Bahn AG (DB) , has three platform tracks and is located in the network area of the Karlsruhe Transport Association (KVV). Since December 2003 it has been the only stop on the S3 and S4 lines of the RheinNeckar S-Bahn .

history

The Heidelberg - Bruchsal - Karlsruhe ( Baden-Kurpfalz-Bahn ) railway was opened to traffic on April 10, 1843, initially on 1600 mm wide gauge. At the same time, a train station was built in Langenbrücken . A few years later, the line was expanded to double tracks.

Since Baden's broad gauge was incompatible with the gauges of its neighboring countries, it was feared that the lucrative transit traffic would be lost . Therefore, the Baden routes have been already in 1854 within four months on standard gauge (1435 mm) umgespurt .

When Langenbrücken and its neighboring community Mingolsheim were incorporated into the newly created community of Bad Schönborn on January 1, 1971 as part of the Baden-Württemberg community reform, the station was named Bad Schönborn Süd .

In 2003, as part of the integration of the Rheintalbahn from Mannheim to Karlsruhe into the network of the RheinNeckar S-Bahn, the platforms were upgraded to accommodate the disabled . The opening of the S-Bahn took place at the regular timetable change 2003/2004 on December 14, 2003, in whose system the station has been integrated ever since.
