Oehlecker sample

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Oehlecker-Probe , which is actually a biological preliminary test according to Oehlecker , is an old blood transfusion tolerance test , named after the Hamburg surgeon Franz Oehlecker (1874–1957), the author of the textbook Die Bluttransfusion (Berlin 1933). In Oehlecker's time, blood was transferred directly from the donor to the recipient; there were no blood reserves . To check compatibility, Oehlecker quickly transfused the recipient with a certain amount (10–20 ml) of blood, followed by slow dripping. This procedure can be repeated after about two minutes. The patient is checked for signs of an intolerance reaction (facial flushing, restlessness, nausea , shock symptoms ). If the cross match is disrupted by autoantibodies or disruptions of the complement system , the Oehlecker test is still used today.
