Franz Oehlecker

Franz Oehlecker (born December 19, 1874 in Hamburg ; † November 16, 1957 there ) was a German surgeon in Hamburg. He is considered a pioneer of blood transfusion.

Life

Oehlecker studied medicine at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen . In 1897 he became active in the Corps Franconia Tübingen . As an inactive he moved to the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität zu Berlin . In 1903 he was promoted to Dr. med. PhD. He completed his surgical training from 1907 to 1914 with Hermann Kümmell in Eppendorf University Hospital . From 1914 to 1946 he was chief physician at AK Barmbek . The Oehlecker trial goes back to him . In 1925, 1929 and 1934 he headed the 29th, 39th and 49th meetings of the Association of Northwest German Surgeons . In November 1933 he signed the German professors' confession of Adolf Hitler . Oehlecker died at the age of 83 and was buried in the Ohlsdorf cemetery near the north pond (grid square A 12). His successor in AK Barmbek was Hans Junker .
