Oghamstone of Dungummin

The Dungummin Oghamstone (also known as the Clonkeiffy Standing Stone ) stands in a field near a junction a few meters from the road south of Ballyjamesduff in southern County Cavan , Ireland .

Oghamstone of Dungummin

The ogham stone consists of sandstone , is about 1.6 m high, 0.48 m wide and 0.36 m thick and tapers in cross section almost to a point. The inscription on the northwest corner reads "OVOMANI", a name. A hole in the surface of the stone's weathered west side damaged it. It was dated by S. Ziegler to 500-550 AD. There are four crosses made of single lines with no other decoration on the stone. The south side bears two crosses, in the west and north a cross is carved.
