Ogoi ( Russian Ого́й , German also Ogoj ) is an uninhabited island on Lake Baikal , which is 2.9 km long and 600 m wide. The highest point of the barren island is 512 m above sea level. It is located on the western shore of Lake Baikal, near the island of Olkhon in the Kurminsky Bay.
Some types of grass and bushes typical of Siberia grow on the Ogoi. In addition to snakes, ochotonas , larks and seagulls , ground squirrels are native here.
The highest point on the island reaches 512 meters and is 56.5 meters above the lake level. In 2005 a stupa in honor of the Dakini Troma Nagmo was built on this highest point , which has led to a brisk tourist traffic.
