Earmuffs are protective clothing for the ears .

The earmuffs as protection against the cold were invented in 1873 by 15-year-old Chester Greenwood from Maine .

Earmuffs are also used as hearing protection . They often resemble shell headphones and serve the same purpose as ear plugs .

Earmuffs can

  • be integrated in hats ,
  • put in the ears,
  • can be attached with a bracket above or in the ears.
