OlWIR is a German scientific publisher based in Edewecht near Oldenburg (Oldb) .

history

The Oldenburg publishing house for economics, computer science and law emerged from the publishing house of the Institute for Law at the University of Oldenburg , founded in 1997 by Jürgen Taeger . Its book titles were taken over when the OlWIR publishing house was founded in 2006 and distributed further. In addition, the range of publishers has been expanded considerably and several new series have been introduced.

Publishing program

The publisher's offer now includes several scientific series from the fields of economics , computer science and law . Among them the important series "Oldenburg Contributions to Civil and Commercial Law" and the "Oldenburg Computer Science Series" edited by Hans-Jürgen Appelrath and Susanne Boll. The latest series are the "Banking, Finance & Accounting Research Series" and the "Writings on Risk Management".

The textbooks and exercise books from economics and law achieve high print runs .

The in-house editing department also looks after the conference volumes that are published for the German Foundation for Law and Informatics (DSRI), including the annual volume on the "Autumn Academy" and the regular DSRI workshops .

Awards

Individual titles of the publishing house have received high awards, such as the book by Ulrike Gedert, “The appropriate compensation for infringement of intellectual property”, which was awarded the DSRI Science Prize in 2008, and the book by Britta A. Mester, “Employee data protection “, Which received the 2009 science award from the Society for Data Protection and Data Security (GDD).
