Old Manor House

Old Manor House is a residential building in the Scottish village of Cockburnspath in the Council Area Scottish Borders . In 1971 the structure was included in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A.

The building, also known locally as Sparrows Castle , is located in the center of Cockburnspath next to Cockburnspath Church . Originally consisting of two individual buildings, the oldest fragments are dated to the 16th century at the latest based on stylistic details. The two buildings are staggered in parallel and have a cut surface in the center. On the southern part, the window openings are framed with egg ornaments. Projecting elements can be found on the rear west facade. The entrance to the north building on the first floor is accessible via a front staircase. There is a stone vault on the ground floor . A ceiling painting dates from the 17th century.
