history

The first ski jump was built in 1906 from wooden slats and plates from a sawmill on the shores of Trout Lake. The hill was built with the support of the US Steel Society and was completely rebuilt for the USA championships in 1910. A few years later a steel inrun tower was added. At that time the hill was the largest in North America . The ski jump tower was demolished in 1941, at the same time a completely new ski jump was built. She was baptized in the name of the co-founder of the association Ole Mangseth. The youth hill was built in 1950.

The K 40 ski jump was built in 1978 and was inaugurated under the name Wilson Memorial Hill. With the support of regional companies and societies as well as the sports association of Minnesota MASC, the renovation of the entire winter sports center at Mt. Itasca began in the early 1990s. The whole thing was completed with the plastic covering on the K 70 hill in 1998. The K 20 hill was covered with plastic mattings in 2005.
