Oliver Arránz Becker

Oliver Arránz Becker (* 1973 in Wiesbaden ) is a German sociologist .

Life

After graduating in psychology from the University of Bonn , he worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Sociology in Aachen (2001-2008) in a family- sociological research project on the importance of couple interaction styles for the quality and stability of partnerships. In 2008 he completed his doctorate as Dr. phil. at the Institute for Sociology at RWTH Aachen University . His dissertation is entitled What holds partnerships together? Psychological and sociological explanations for the success of couple relationships .

In December 2012 he successfully completed his habilitation at the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences at the TU Chemnitz . There he also held a substitute professorship at the Chair of General Sociology from October 2012 to August 2013 . This was followed by an appointment as a junior professor for educational and family sociology at the University of Mannheim . At the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg , he teaches quantitative methods in the social sciences as a professor .

His research focuses on quantitative methods, in particular methods for analyzing dyads and small groups on the basis of multi-level and structural equation models, family research and demographic processes (choice of lifestyles, fertility, separation and divorce, partnership and intergenerational relationships) and health research (medical research, health inequalities ).
