In the 1956 Olympic Games in the Australian city of Melbourne , the tournament was from November 24 to December 1 Boxing - Light Welterweight held for men.
According to the competition regulations of the Association Internationale de Boxe Amateure (AIBA), the body weight of every light welterweight boxer must be greater than 60 kg and a maximum of 63.5 kg.
22 athletes from 22 nations determined the Olympic champion in Melbourne's West Melbourne Stadium : It was won by the Soviet Russian Vladimir Jengibarjan ahead of the Italian Franco Nenci , the South African Henry Loubscher and the Romanian Constantin Dumitrescu .
