Franco Nenci (born January 25, 1935 in Livorno ; † May 15, 2020 there ) was an Italian welterweight boxer.

amateur

Nenci started boxing at the age of 17 and quickly developed into a skilled boxer with outstanding technical skills. In 1956 he qualified for the Olympic Games in Melbourne , where he won after victories over Rehmat Gul ( Pakistan ; 3rd knockout), Willi Roth ( Germany ), Antonio Marcilla ( Argentina ) and Constantin Dumitrescu ( Romania ) and a final defeat against Wladimir Jengibarjan ( Soviet Union ) won the light welterweight silver medal.

professional

He started as a professional in 1957. Although he competed in many fights, his career didn't really get going. In April 1964, he finally fought for the Italian championship welterweight. But he was defeated by Fortunato Manca in the seventh round by a technical knockout. Even after that his fights showed light and shadow. In July 1967, Nenci retired from boxing.
