Omer is a village in the US state of Michigan .

With a population of 337 people and an area of 3.4 km², the village founded on the Rifle River in the mid-1860s is the smallest village in the US state. The founders of the village are George Gorie and George Carscallen. Carscallen made the name Homer from the town's original name (Rifle River Mills). To this day, the background to this action is uncertain. However, since there was already a town in Michigan called Homer, Carscallen named the village Omer. Omer has officially been a city in the United States since 1903. Omer is in the Eastern Time Zone. As a result, it is 6 hours later there than in Central Europe.
