The Kanjut Sar II is a 6831  m high mountain in the Karakorum .

It belongs to the Hispar Muztagh , part of the Karakoram main chain in the Pakistani autonomous region of Gilgit-Baltistan north of the Hispar Glacier . Kanjut Sar II grows out of the southeast ridge of Kanjut Sar I and is flanked by the Khani Basa Glacier in the west and south and by the Khurdopin Glacier in the northeast.

Ascent history

The first ascent of Kanjut Sar II was achieved by a Swiss team in 1985. Expedition leader Toni Spirig as well as Ueli Stahel and Richie Ott did it after several attempts in alpine style . The climbers reached the summit on July 10th. The ascent route led over the northwest side.

On July 29, 1990, a Dutch expedition succeeded in making the second ascent of Kanjut Sar II in alpine style over the south face. Expedition members were Peter Kok, Frank Schmidt, Franck van den Barselaer, Hendrik Freie and Pieter de Kam.
