One Wall Center

The One Wall Center is the second tallest building in the Canadian city of Vancouver . It is 150 meters high and has 48 stories, and the address is 1088 Burrard Street. The building was completed in 2001, and the responsible architecture firm Busby and Associates Architects received the Emporis Skyscraper Award for the best new skyscraper in terms of design and functionality in the same year .

The lower 27 floors are a hotel , the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Center of the Sheraton chain with 347 rooms (765 rooms together with the adjacent building). Floors 28-30 belong to another hotel, the Club Intrawest Resort . The top 17 floors are occupied by condominiums .

The foundation extends 23 meters into the ground, deeper than any other building in Vancouver. To compensate for the movement of the building in strong winds, the One Wall Center has a damping system on the top floor. This consists of two water tanks with 227,000 liters each.

The One Wall Center was Vancouver's tallest building until January 2009 and was then replaced by the 51 meter higher Living Shangri-La .
