An onride video is the video recording of a roller coaster ride or other ride attraction . This is mostly done from the perspective of the person driving ( point-of-view shot or POV for short). Often times a roller coaster is rotated from the first row to get a clear view of the rail, but there are also shots from other rows or against the direction of travel.

For professional purposes, the camcorder is often attached to the track with a clamp bracket, helmet cameras are less common. For private or semi-professional purposes, and more rarely in the professional sector , the camcorder is simply held in the hand while driving. For safety reasons, many attraction operators require the camcorder to be attached to the hand using tape or other means. Some operators prohibit carrying a camcorder in hand altogether.

commercial use

In addition to the mostly free videos on the net, some DVDs with professionally recorded videos are also sold.

In recent years, some operators have also been offering onride videos of the journey for sale in addition to the popular onride photos. In most cases, recordings of the guest that are recorded by small cameras in front of each seat during the journey are cut together with general recordings of the train or the journey and burned onto a DVD.
