Alpina Bahn is a transportable steel roller coaster , which is mainly set up in Germany at large public festivals . The ropeway designed by Werner Stengel and built by Anton Schwarzkopf for the Bruch family celebrated its premiere on July 16, 1983 at the Rheinkirmes in Düsseldorf under the name Himalayabahn . Due to technical problems, however, the railway was only able to start regular operations the next day. In 1987, the railway was then presented on the festival grounds under the name of roller coaster . At the end of the 1997 season, the Stuhr company AFAW made the railway what it is todayAlpina Bahn redesigned. To this day, the facility is the largest and longest transportable roller coaster in the world without a rollover. In addition, until the opening of the Olympia Looping in 1989, it was the only transportable roller coaster on which it is possible to operate up to five trains at the same time.

With a footprint of 86 m × 32 m, the roller coaster has a height of 32 meters and a maximum rail height of 27 meters. The trains can reach a maximum speed of 80 km / h on the circuit, which is in the form of several eight-shaped sections and is 910 meters long  . The five trains each consist of five cars for four people in two rows. A friction wheel drive takes care of the transport to the lift hill. Block brakes attached to the side of the rails are used as block and final brakes . The weight of the steel structure used is 600 tons.
