Unsuri

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Abu l-Qasim Hasan ibn Ahmad Unsuri ( Persian ابو القاسم حسن بن احمد عنصرى, DMG Abu l-Qāsim Ḥasan b. Aḥmad ʿUnṣurī , according to modern vocalization ʿOnṣorī ; * around 961 in Balch ; † around 1039/40 in Ghazna ) was a Persian poet .

Unsuri was apparently born in Balch and is therefore also known as Balchi (بلخی Balḫī ). He worked at the court of Sultan Mahmud of Ghazni ( 998 - 1030 ) and his son Sultan Masud I of Ghazna ( 1030 - 1040 ). As "Dicherfürst" ( Amīr or Malik al-šu'arā' ) enjoyed it at the Ghaznavids high reputation and was proven yet on September 21, 1031 ( Eid al-Fitr ) a rich reward for his art. Unsuri must have died soon after this date, probably 1039/40 (or even 1049/50).

Remarks

  1. Sada is one of the pre-celebrations held in honor of Nouruz . The festival, which also appears in Firdausi's monumental work Schahnama , is said to go back to Zoroastrianism . During the festival, a fire is lit, where music and dancing are performed.
