OpenBUGS (BUGS = " B ayesian inference U sing G ibbs S ampling"). is a free software which is used for questions of Bayesian statistics with the help of the Monte Carlo simulation .

OpenBUGS was founded as a free alternative to WinBUGS and is being further developed by its developers. OpenBUGS is also available for Unixoids . Models in OpenBUGS are also more flexible and easier to expand, since any number of algorithms can be used within a model. OpenBUGS was developed to be used together with S-PLUS, so that the syntax is similar to S and can be easily embedded in R and thus runs in a command line environment.
