The Open Document Management Alliance ( ODMA ) is an IT consortium for standards in the field of document management systems (DMS) and publisher of the ODMA Specification . The current version since September 17, 1997 is the ODMA 2.0 Specification.

With the "Open Document Management API" a uniform interface for access to document management systems is defined for DMS clients, with ODMA desktop applications such as Microsoft Word or AutoCAD can use a corresponding DMS transparently, regardless of manufacturer and product.

ODMA is supported and implemented by many large companies, including IBM , Microsoft , Xerox, and Lotus .
