The operation Medak boiler (kroat. Operacija Medački DZEP , Eng. Operation Medak Pocket ) was a military operation the Croatian army between the 9th and 17th September 1993 , when Croatian units in the area of southern Lika near Gospic in the village of Medak part conquered the Republic of Serbian Krajina , which was proclaimed by Serbian separatists .

The Croatian offensive was initially successful and defeated the Serbian irregulars in the area. The Croatian armed forces were charged with war crimes against the local Serbian population and shooting at UN peacekeeping forces.

Despite the military success, the action turned into a setback for Croatian politics. After strong international pressure, the Croatian troops had to withdraw from the area.
