Operational readiness

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Operational readiness means that the organization and the product or service of a company are operational. Most companies define this informally, but in the case of complex business processes and / or a complex offer, it makes sense to deal with it explicitly so that the desired quality can be provided directly at the start of the product or service.

Emergence

The term operational readiness is borrowed from American military jargon and was initially used commercially in the nuclear industry. Hence the very military-sounding names. In the English-speaking world, operational readiness is a common term in project management.

application

The Operational Readiness Test (ORT) is particularly well known in German-speaking countries. This represents the end of the product development. With the declaration of operability (RfS: Ready for Service, based on RfA: Ready for Action, ready for action) the product or service is released for marketing. ORTs should therefore be closely accompanied by marketing and sales.
