Ophthalmodynamography
The Ophthalmodynamographie (of óphtalmós , ὀφθαλμός, Greek .: eye, dynamis , δύναμις, Greek .: power and graphein , γράφειν, Greek .: describe) the registration of blood pressure and pulse wave velocity in the ophthalmic artery and the arterial pressure in the retina .
The pressure in the eye is increased with the help of an ophthalmodynamometer , a balloon pressure chamber lying tightly on the eyeball ( Bulbus oculi ) and the edges of the bony eye socket ( orbit ). The resulting bulb-orbital pulse is recorded using an oscillograph .
The procedure is also used to diagnose insufficient blood flow in the brain .
