Optical Network Unit

An optical network unit or optical network unit ( ONU ) is in the communication technology of the network termination of an optical connection cable .

Depending on the HYTAS technology installed, the ONU is installed in the cable distributor , in the building, or at the subscriber's and converts the fiber optic network of a telephone network operator to the subscriber's local installation cabling , which is usually implemented with twisted pair cables .
