Or Noir (German: black gold ) is the debut album by the French rapper Kaaris . It was released on October 21, 2013 on the Therapy Music label . The album achieved chart success in several French-speaking countries. For the most part, the album can be described as "hardcore rap on trap beats".

background

After Kaaris met Booba in 2011, he became known to a wider audience. This was followed by a guest post on Booba's Mixtape Autopsy Vol. 4 . Kaaris then released the mixtape ZERO . Also in 2012, he was featured on Booba's sixth studio album, Futur . Through Booba, Kaaris came into contact with music producer Therapy and video producer Chris Macari, among others . With these Kaaris worked from now on and began to record his first studio album Or Noir .

In December 2012, the music video for the song Kalash (with Booba ) was released. The first single Zoo was released in early 2013 . A little later, the next single was released with Binks . Then Paradis ou enfer was released as a single in September 2013, then developed into a mainstream success and from then on also ran on the radio, which was still slightly unusual for a trap rap song. With Dès le départ , the next single was released in the same month. All singles published up to then could reach the French Top 100 and were only published digitally. Then 63 and a little later the title track Or Noir was released. However, these no longer reached the top 100 of the single charts in France.

Guest musician

The only guest post is Booba . Kaaris justified this in relation to the magazine Juice with the following words: “ Quite simply: I wanted to focus on myself and create my own universe. I've done more than enough features in the past. My debut album was supposed to be all about me. "

Or Noir entered the French album charts at number 3 and some time later even received gold status in France . The album reached number 12 in the Belgian-Walloon charts and number 35 in Switzerland.

The first single Zoo reached number 78, while Binks and Paradis ou enfer both reached number 51 on the French single charts. In addition, Dès le départ made it to position 43. The songs LEF , 63 , Bizon , Je bibi , Bouchon de liège and the title track Or Noir were also able to enter the expanded Top 200 of the French single charts.
