Cabana de Bergantiños is a municipality on the Costa da Morte in northern Galicia .
Geographical location
The place extends in a protected position from the southeastern bank of the deeply cut sea bay Riá de Corme y Laxe to the estuary of the Río Anllóns . The community is spread over numerous scattered villages and hamlets. There are agricultural areas in the flatter terrain near the coast and the river bank. To the south, forests cover the sloping terrain. Neighboring communities are Laxe in the west and Ponteceso in the east.

- A Silvarredonda (San Pedro)
The municipality was originally called Cesullas, like the Parroquia in the upper part of the municipality. Later the municipal administration was moved to A Carballa near the river bank.

Population development
economy
The main sources of income are fishing, agriculture and livestock. The soil is rich in minerals such as tungsten and rutile . Granite and slate are in abundance. Gold used to be mined in the Parroquia Corcoesto.
For a few years now, the Canadian company Edgewater has been trying to mine gold there again. The project is controversial because of its possible effects on the environment.

Prehistoric buildings
In the area of the Parroquia Borneiro there are two outstanding examples of early history:
- The Dombate dolmen is a particularly well-preserved, outstanding specimen from the large number of Galician megalithic structures.
- The Castro de Borneiro is a fortified hill settlement of the Bronze Age Castro culture .
Churches and chapels
There are a number of old church buildings in the municipality:
- In the Parroquia Cesullas the church of San Esteban de Cesullas , built in the 17th and 18th centuries, as well as the chapels of San Fins and Nosa Señora das Neves.
- In the Parroquia Anós, the classical church of San Esteban de Anós , 18th century, and the chapels of San Roque de A Ermida and A Eirita , also called O Espiño . The square in front of A Eirita offers a wide panoramic view.
- In the Parroquia Borneiro, the church of San Xoán from the 16th century and the chapel As Virtudes e O Carme from the 16th to 18th centuries.
- In the Parroquia San Pedro, the 18th century church of San Pedro .
- In the Parroquia Riobó the church of San Martiño with a valuable baroque altarpiece and the chapel of San Brais de Folgoso from the 18th century.
- In the Parroquia de Silvaredonda, the Church of San Pedro and the Chapel of Santa Margarida de Baneira .
- In the Parroquia Cánduas the half-ruined chapel Fátima en Sinde , built during the war.
Historical secular buildings
In the Parroquia Silvarredonda is the Torre da Penela , the ruins of a noble palace from the 17th century.
beaches
Cabana de Bergantiños has beaches on the river and beaches on the coastal bay. The river beaches are artificially created by excavators; they are intended to offer visitors access and opportunities to relax on the river. These beaches are called O Curro , A Urixeira , O Pendón and O Lodeiro . The beaches on the bay are called As Maseiras , Area das Vacas , Rebordelo and San Pedro .
