Boiro is a municipality , a parroquia and a place in the province of A Coruña of the autonomous community of Galicia , in the north of Spain . The 18,838 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019) live on an area of around 87 km 2 , 115 kilometers from the government capital A Coruña .
history
In the municipality of Boiro there is a high concentration of evidence from the megalithic culture . The oldest archaeological excavation is near Barbanza and dates back to 3000 BC. Dated. The persistent settlement of the region is proven up to the time of the Romans in the 5th century. A large number of dolmens , necropolises and ramparts are impressive evidence of this.
