Lousame is a Spanish municipality in the autonomous community of Galicia . Lousame is also a city and a parroquia, as well as the administrative seat of the municipality of the same name. The 3338 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019) live on an area of ​​93.65 km ² , 109 km from the provincial capital A Coruña .

history

The Igrexa San Xusto Church

Petroglyphs found evidence that the region was already settled in prehistoric times . From the ( Castro culture ) seven forts have been identified, which are now stylized in the municipality's coat of arms. Dolmens and barrows are evidence of persistent settlement. The monastery “Mosteiro de Toxos Outos” was founded on November 1st, 1129 as a hermitage , remains of which can still be seen today next to the parish church “Igrexa de San Xusto” .
