Noia (official name in Galician language , the Spanish name is Noya ) is a small town in the Spanish province of A Coruña . The city lies on the Rio Tambre and the Atlantic Ocean , fishing (mussels) is the main source of income for the inhabitants. The city is also known for high quality leather and leather goods, especially shoes.
The cemetery , one of the oldest in Europe, is historically significant ; some of the notable tombstones date from the 10th century. Gravestones are exhibited in the secularized church of Santa Maria a Nova in the middle of the cemetery . These often have stylized drawings of people, plants or other drawings that suggest the deceased's profession.
