Ora Maté is the joint project of the two French DJs and music producers Hugo Montel and Milan Toulouse , which was launched in 2007.
Career
In September 2007, was released by Universal Music under the title Oceanism the debut album of the band. In their songs, the two ethnic rhythms combine with common house sounds .
The first single, Kamaté, is based on a sample of the piece Tropical Soundclash by the French musician DJ Grégory from 2002 and refers to the Haka , the traditional Māori war dance . The French TV broadcaster TF1 chose the song as the theme tune for its broadcasts from the 2007 Rugby Union World Cup in France . In October 2007 the single reached number 1 in the French charts.
