As ora serrata is known in anatomy

  • the circular transition line of the pars optica of the retina ( retina ) into the pars caeca , which covers the ciliary body and the iris. The ora serrata is about 8.5 mm behind the limbus . It is the transition zone from the seeing part of the retina to the blind part of the retina. The pigment epithelium and the outer border membrane pass into the tissue of the ciliary body. The remaining layers of the retina are reduced to a layer of unpigmented cells. These cells then form the outer layer of the ciliary epithelium d. H. the outer layer of the (two-layer) epithelium of the ciliary body.
