The Orangery Weyhern is a building that belongs to Weyhern Castle in the Upper Bavarian municipality of Egenhofen . The building was constructed about 300 years ago.

history

Sources on the origins of the orangery are scarce. Built in the 18th century, the building was used to overwinter non-frost-proof potted plants and to store citrus fruits .

In 2009 Hubert Maier wanted to renovate the house, open a gallery for handicrafts and create an apartment. Since there used to be a pane of glass on the south side and the old owner exchanged the glass for a solid wall, there was too much mass on the vault . When the drainage work was started, the south side collapsed. Nobody got hurt. The construction was not continued.

In 2011 the building was sold and returned to private ownership.

location

The orangery can be reached by car via the A8 and a bus line (871) goes to the Weyhern stop. Near the orangery there is a St. Nepomuk - Field chapel , a summer cellar and a castle.
