Orathanadu ( Tamil : ஒரத்தநாடு Orattanāṭu [ ˈorʌt̪əˌnaːɖɯ ]) or Mukthambalpuram (Tamil: முத்தம்பாள்புரம் Muttampāḷpuram [ ˈmut̪ːambaːɭˌpurʌm ]) is a city in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu . The population is around 10,000 (2011 census).

Orathanadu is located on the edge of the Kaveri Delta in the Thanjavur district, 23 kilometers south of the district capital Thanjavur . The distance to Chennai (Madras), the capital of Tamil Nadu, is 400 kilometers. Orathanadu is the capital of the talk Orathanadu .
