Orbea (company)
The Orbea company is now a Spanish bicycle manufacturer . The company was founded in 1847 in the Basque town of Eibar as a weapons manufacturer and is now a cooperative .
Founded in 1847, Orbea was initially an armory. In 1930 the company started manufacturing bicycles, first in Vitoria and later in Mallabia near Durango in the province of Bizkaia . Today Orbea produces around 250,000 bicycles annually in Mallabia. As a cooperative, the company's employees are shareholders in the company, and Orbea is part of the Mondragón Corporación Cooperativa group .
In the 2005 season, the racers from the Euskaltel-Euskadi (until 2013), Comunitat Valenciana and Orbea teams rode Orbea bikes. In 2015 Orbea bikes were used in the Tour de France (Team Cofidis, Solutions Crédits ). The Orbea Enduro Team was founded in 2017.
Orbea offers a lifetime warranty on its frames and forks.
