The orchestra of the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz is the symphony orchestra of the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich. In addition to the orchestra of the Bavarian State Opera , the Bavarian State Orchestra , it is the second opera orchestra in the city of Munich .

The orchestra's repertoire ranges from baroque to contemporary opera literature and covers all genres of musical theater: opera , operetta , dance theater, children's opera, musical . The ensemble of 77 musicians, which was raised to the rank of A-orchestra in 2003, can also be experienced regularly in concerts and in concert performances. In addition, the musicians have been creating a series of chamber music since 2000, which is located in the Munich City Museum during the renovation of the main building. Guest performances have taken the orchestra at home and abroad.

The orchestra of the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz has been characterized by collaboration with well-known conductors and musical personalities since it was founded. Composers such as Carl Millöcker and Franz Lehár conducted their own works here. Chief conductors were among others Wolfgang Rennert, Franz Allers and David Stahl. Marco Comin has been leading the orchestra of the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz since the 2012/2013 season.
