The order of the bee , also often referred to as the order of the honeybee , was a French knightly order . It was donated in 1703 by the wife of the Duke of Bourbon , Louis-Auguste de Bourbon, duc du Maine Luise Benedictine of Bourbon. It was intended for the ladies and gentlemen of the house. The order, the hard work and the organization of the bee should have been the inspiration for the order.

On one side of the medallion was a bee and the inscription as the motto of the order : “Jesuis petite, mais mes piqueurs sont profondes” or “Piccola si, ma fa pur gravi le ferite” meaning: “I am small, but I make heavy ones Wounds ”.

The time of extinction is unknown. For the bicentenary of its foundation, the order was re-established in 1903 on the initiative of M. Duval-Trépied.
