Order of Merit (Anhalt-Köthen)

The Order of Merit was founded on August 15, 1811 by Duke August Christian Friedrich von Anhalt-Koethen for “excellent services to the sovereign and the country”.

The medal is a white enameled, gold-rimmed eight-pointed Maltese cross . In the center of the blue-enamelled medallion, the initials CGL ( Carl Georg Leberecht von Anhalt-Köthen , father of the founder). A wreath of stars can be seen all around on a yellow background. On the reverse, on a yellow enameled background, the inscription DEM MERDIENSTE surrounded by a green laurel wreath on a blue background.

The medal was worn on an orange ribbon with blue stripes around the neck.
